The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on the public to embrace marriage, emphasizing its role as the foundation of love and stable families, and urging influential figures to lead by example.
Speaking after hosting singer Irene Ntale and her husband Vincent Kalibbala at Bulange in Mengo, Mayiga said celebrities who commit to marriage play a critical role in shaping positive social attitudes.
“We are very happy when celebrities and well-known individuals commit to marriage because they become a good example to their followers and admirers, encouraging them not to fear marriage but to confidently embrace it,” he said.
Mayiga stressed that successful marriages are built on mutual respect, support, and effective communication, describing marriage as the foundation of lasting love.
“Marriage is the foundation of love, and for it to endure, couples must nurture that love continuously by respecting each other, supporting one another, and maintaining good communication,” he added.
He noted that stable unions not only benefit couples but also inspire wider society to value and appreciate the institution of marriage.
Mayiga wished the couple a happy and enduring marriage, expressing hope that their union would serve as a model for others.
